Notes | Coho salmon require different habitats at different stages of life, from gravel ripples for spawning, to deep pools for summer rearing, to sheltered sites for surviving winter torrents. These different habitats need to be connected. The research described in this article shows that habitat connections may be more important than the quality of any individual habitat. This article is intended to make research accessible to the general public. It gives a good overview of what researchers are learning about the needs of coho salmon. |
