Notes | Oregon’s coastal Native Americans have long regarded lampreys as important food sources. Recent declines in lamprey populations have spurred research. This abstract describes a project jointly conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey and the Cow Creek band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians to develop a model that will identify burrowing habitat for lampreys. In 2017, the tribe surveyed Rock Creek and Steamboat Creek, in order to check the validity of the model and to improve it. |
