Shad production in the spring of 1929 on the Columbia River and Oregon coast was “about normal,” although the Umpqua River, “which is the primary factor on the coast, is a little short.” While much shad and shad roe was shipped fresh, “the major portion is canned in 1-lb. tails for the shad and half-lb. ovals for the roe.” |
