NotesBrief news item. Shad production in the spring of 1929 on the Columbia River and Oregon coast was “about normal,” although the Umpqua River, “which is the primary factor on the coast, is a little short.” While much shad and shad roe was shipped fresh, “the major portion is canned in 1-lb. tails for the shad and half-lb. ovals for the roe.”
