NotesThis is a report of a series of scuba dives made on a small portion of Diamond Lake in order to estimate the amount of litter in the lake. “Approximately 2.4 acres of the lake were examined and only those pieces of litter resting on top of the detritus could be counted. We found that as our knees and swim fins sank into the ooze we bumped into a tremendous amount of litter that settled into the bottom. By knifing through the sludge with a broken fishing rod conveniently found on the bottom, I counted at least one piece of litter per four square feet at locat ion #4.”
