Notes | Fall Chinook runs were in trouble through Western Oregon in the early 1950s. In 1954, one returning fall Chinook was counted at the fish counting station at Winchester Falls on the North Umpqua. That’s right, just one. So when 347 Chinooks were counted at the same station the next year, the news was worth reporting. A table gives statistics for fall Chinook at Winchester Dam from 1946-1955. |
