Notes

β€œThe title of this report is somewhat misleading in that the work reported was not a complete cultural resource evaluation . . . but only a partial or preliminary evaluation. . . As noted in the historical overview Steamboat Creek played only a minor and peripheral role in the history of the North Umpqua River drainage. Prehistorically, however, the Steamboat drainage may have played a significant role in the upland hunting systems of local populations. The sites tested by this investigator suggest that an upland hunting pattern has been present in the drainage for at least the last 6000 years.” (p.34-35)
