NotesJuvenile coho salmon were tagged and monitored to assess relationship of smolt size to survival, and to evaluate different habitats. Fish were highly mobile during overwintering period. Spatial variability, more gravel (less bedrock), larger spring smolt size, availability of small tributaries when main-stem habitat has been degraded all contribute to productivity. Stresses importance of connections between streams.
