Notes | The southern Oregon coast got 15-20 inches of rain in January 16-19, 1953. "Swirling waters from the Umpqua River Sunday night blocked all highway routes into Roseburg, and Mildred Herman, Red Cross executive secretary for Douglas County, reported evacuation of families from lowland homes in Myrtle Poiint, Winchester, and Winston. Some Roseburg residents also fled to higher ground." |
