Notes | Before they spawn, mature Pacific lamprey spend about a year in freshwater. What they do during that year was investigated in this study, which used radio-telemetry and followed tagged fishes. Distinct behavior and migration patterns were observed. Interestingly, some lamprey spawned in multiple locations, separated by as much as 16 kilometers, and with multiple spawners. |
